Adele Givens

Adele Givens is an American comedian, actress, and writer. She was born on July 1, 1960, in Chicago. However, she now lives in Lexington, Kentucky. Adele first became a comedian and then started her acting career in 1996 through television shows like Martin and Moesha. She is known for her acting in movies and TV shows from the late 1980s.

Adele was the Grand Prize Winner of the Crown Royal Comedy Contest in 1989. She was a finalist in the Miller Lite Comedy Search Contest in 1990 (Bernie Mac was the winner). She worked with Laura Hayes, Mo'Nique, and Sommore, her fellow African-American women comedians, on the tour of The Queens of Comedy (a stand-up comedy feature film).

Adele Givens has been a stage performer since her childhood. She was a part of the drama group at school and a member of her hometown’s theater group. She moved to Los Angeles to focus on her acting dreams after completing her education.

In 1998, she was a part of The Hughleys, a sitcom first aired on the UPN Network. The next year, Adele was seen in another sitcom, The Parkers. She was a stand-up comedian on Comedy Central Presents, where Adele had 30 minutes of show time. The show was a great success and fetched her a chance to showcase her talent. She then joined the cast of Def Comedy Jam, an HBO TV series that ran from 1992 to 1997.

Adele Givens also worked in comedy movies like The Players Club, Beauty Shop, etc. She hosted the pre-show of The Source's Hip Hop Awards in 2001. She wrote an episode for Def Comedy Jam in 2006, and a documentary called 1st Amendment Stand Up in 2010. Adele worked with Kanye West, singer & rapper, on a single titled I Love It. The song was so popular that it graced the 6th position on the Billboard Hot 100 and sold more than two million copies in the US. The single also received a double Platinum certificate from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for its success.

Adele is married to her childhood sweetheart, Tony. They got married on October 28, 1992, and have a son. She shares a healthy and loving marriage with her husband and often shares their pictures on her social media handles.
