Arnez J
Among people who know about comedy, Arnez J. is one of the hottest and most talked-about artists. His heroes are the great TV comedians of the 1960s, like Red Skelton and Flip Wilson, and a performer who might seem like an odd choice for an African-American male artist of today. Arnez was the host of BET's longest-running comedy show "Comic View" for two seasons due to his brilliance, raw energy, and rapid success in making people laugh. He joined hosts like Cedric and D.L. Hughley, the Entertainer, on the show.
Early Life
He was born in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, on November 3, 1966. His father was a soldier. Also, he comes from an All-American background. He went to Aurora High School.
Career
Arnez started working at a gas station when he was 14. He had to lie about his age to get a job so he could pay for school. When his plans to play baseball didn't work out, he became a flight attendant. As a flight attendant, he found out he was funny. He realized he could make passengers and crew laugh, so his friends pushed him to try stand-up comedy for the first time.
After his first night on stage, he quit his job with an airline and decided to make comedy his full-time job. When scouts for the famous Harlem Globetrotters basketball team saw his physical comedy routine at a local basketball game, they asked him to join the team. This meant he had to combine his goals of being an athlete and a performer. After a few months, an injury to his knee ended his career with the Harlem Globetrotters. This gave him a chance to do stand-up comedy full-time.
He started doing stand-up comedy in Georgia and became one of the funniest newcomers to "Hotlanta" very quickly. He competed in the "Bay Area Black Comedy Competition" and advanced to the final round. The entertainment industry noticed, and Showtime's "Comedy Club Network" asked him to make his first TV appearance there.
He was the main act on the show "Shaquille O'Neal Presents: All-Star Comedy Jam" on Showtime. Today, he is known as one of the best working artists. His stand-up routine is polished and very funny, and he doesn't have to swear to entertain his audience. He keeps up a crazy pace in front of packed arenas and other venues all over the country.
