The Forum - Los Angeles
The Forum is an indoor arena found in Inglewood California, one of the western neighborhoods in the greater Los Angeles area. This enduring historic venue has a reputation for bringing the best large-scale events to the area with a dose of character. For more information about The Forum, see below.
Originally opened in 1967, The Forum has a long, rich history. It has been known as Great Western Forum and the Fabulous Forum. It has always been known for its marvelous structure, created by architect Charles Luckman, who designed other massive, world-renown structures including Madison Square Gardens in New York City. The Forum is the first large arena without major support pillars on the inside, which creates the open-air, expansive feeling in the interior. An army of white Roman pillars encloses the round structure, with red beaming through. This striking combination is reminiscent of old world, seaside empires, but kicked up a notch.
After decades of thriving, in 1999, the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Kings moves headquarters to the Staples Center. The Forum took a big hit in business, and was soon bought by a local church. In 2012, the space was acquired by Madison Square Gardens Entertainment Company. They injected life into the space, imaging it as a high-end entertainment venue that stayed true to its historic appearance. Approved by the LA Conservancy and winning a Conservancy Preservation Award, it gives a totally different impression than most indoor arenas in the United States, showing that these types of spaces can be preserved, renovated, and reinvigorated.
When The Forum first kicked off, it was a rock haven. That reputation followed it in the ‘70s and ‘80s. Every iconic group of that era filled the stage: The Rolling Stones, Steppenwolf, Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, The Beatles, Three Dog Night, Led Zeppelin, and more. That spirit is still around today. Concerts are a regular hit, with recent and upcoming performers including Tame Impala, Blake Shelton, Prince Royce, The Strokes, Billie Eilish, Pearl Jam, The Eagles, The 1975, Soda Stereo, Bon Jovi, Phish, Harry Styles, Jenny Lewis, The Black Crowes, and My Chemical Romance. It also holds family events, including Nickelodeon Slimefest, and indoor sports, such as boxing.
The Forum is located at 3900 West Manchester Boulevard in Inglewood, California 90305 in the Los Angeles area, just east of the Los Angeles Airport. Nearby entertainment includes Hollywood Park Casino and New LA Rams Stadium.
