Carlos Ballarta
In 1990, Carlos Ballarta was born in Mexico City. He is a stand-up comedian and an actor. He grew up in Chicoloapan, a borough in the Metropolitan area, and went to school to learn how to act. He began his career as an artist when he worked as a voice actor. In 2012, he did his first Open mic. Then, because he was afraid of looking people in the eye, he started wearing glasses, now his trademark.
Early Life and Education
Carlos's father was a mailman, and his mother worked as a cashier at a local grocery store. Most people think Carlos is an only child because he hasn't talked about having siblings.
He liked many things when he was young, but playing video games with his friends was his favorite. Carlos liked acting and comedy in high school and often put on shows for his classmates. He didn't go to college when he graduated from high school in 2008. Instead, he went to work to make money for himself.
Career
Carlos did his first stand-up comedy show in December 2012 at a bar in Mexico City called Beer Hall. In 2013 and 2014, he was on the comedy show STANDparados. In 2014, he was asked to perform on the TV show "Comedy Central Presents: Stand Up." In 2015, Carlos was invited to perform again, and he did two sketches.
After he was on Rene Franco's comedy show "It's Night... and I'm Here," he became well-known in Mexico. Carlos chose his look around this time and kept it the same. His big white glasses and long brown hair make him easy to spot.
He has talked about his look, saying it's a tribute to the late singer-songwriter and frontman of the band Nirvana, Kurt Cobain, and that he needs glasses because he cannot look directly into the eyes of his audience.
As a stand-up comedian, he performed with the group 7 Machos between 2014 and 2016. Eduardo Talavera and Fran Hevia were also in the group. Carlos is currently one of Mexico's most popular stand-up comedians. He has been able to perform all over the world and has also started doing shows in English.
Three of his specials, "False Prophet," "Furia Nera," and "El Amor es de Pvtos," are now on Netflix. He is a co-host of the "Duques y Campesinos" podcast and the "Kcero Podcast'' with Coco Celis and Chavos Banda. Carlos also has a podcast by himself called "Status Qlo."
