Chris Paul Anthony Distefano, or Chris Distefano as he chooses to go by, is an American stand-up comedian of German and Italian descent. Distefano is also a popular podcast host and has his podcast channel Chrissy Chaos.
Distefano had a significant breakthrough with his first hour-long special, Chris Distefano: Size 38 Waist, released on Comedy Central. His second special, Speshy Weshy, aired on Netflix in May 2022, also met with similar success.
Distefano started his career on MTV’s Guy Code and MTV2’s Girl Code. He was a student of psychology and played basketball in college. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame of St. Joseph's College when he became the team's highest scorer. He also went on to do his Ph.D. in physical therapy. He practiced pediatric physical therapy for quite some time before pursuing a career in comedy full-time.
Career in Comedy and Subsequent Success
Distefano slowly started garnering attention since he started performing stand-up shows in 2009. He hosted the 2010 Fencing Masters. He also hosted the March Madness Comedy Competition at the comedy club at Carolines on Broadway.
Distefano started performing across diverse venues, and the number of his audience grew. He performed in the New York Comedy Club, Gotham Comedy Club, Comedy Cellar, Laugh Lounge, and Broadway Comedy Club, among others.
Distefano made his presence known as the comedian to watch out for when he started doing multiple shows on MTV, including Guy Code, Girl Code, Guy Court, Off the Bat, and The Challenge. He also frequently appeared on Opie with Jim. He was also featured on Late Night with David Letterman and later on Late Night with Seth Meyers.
By this time, Distefano had become a well-known public figure and began touring the US with Monster Energy Outbreak Presents. He also became one of the announcers for Ultimate Beastmaster on Netflix. He also went on to star in a web series Bay Ridge Boys, alongside Yannis Pappas and co-hosted a history podcast named History Hyenas.
Distefano now performs across the world, and his tours are very invigorating. His take on life and unique perspectives leave the audience wanting more. His shows in New York City's Beacon Theatre and Gramercy Theatre were sold out recently.
