Spokane has a great arts community, which supports over 40 venues

Ranging for the literary arts to the visual arts to the performing arts to the musical arts, Spokane’s arts community is alive and well. Many arts venues overlap, serving as multipurpose art spaces for events such as concerts and galleries. Some of the best venues include the INB Performing Arts Center, the Spokane Civic Theatre, the Bing Crosby Theater, and the Martin Woldson Theater. In total, there are over 40 official venues, not including the underground venues, such as basements, backyards, and garages.

Spokane has an average of over 50 concerts per month

According to the city of Spokane’s website, there are around 100 registered concerts through the remained of the year, which averages to over 50 per month. This means that virtually every night of the week, someone somewhere in Spokane is playing a gig.

Spokane has a mix of venue sizes, including small, medium, and large

Concert-goers know that venues have a lot to do with each concert’s unique experience. A venue contributes to an ambiance and an atmosphere that is all too fleeting. For years, people in Spokane’s music community have complained about a lack of mid-size venues. Spaces were either too small and intimate or too big and distanced. However, Inlander writers Leah Sottile and Jordy Byrd have found some great mid-size selections for listeners. These venues include STAGE54, The Grail, Nyne, Ichiban, Bluz at the Bend, and Aclub. The size of these venues ranges from nearly 200 to around 500. The exception is The Grail, which is slightly larger, but not stadium-sized large; it seats 500 to 1,000, offering a wide range of concert sizes. Interestingly, most of these venues opened within the last 10 or so years, which speaks to the adaptability of the music industry in Spokane.
