Colin Jost
Colin Jost is a popular American comedian, actor, and writer. He is best known for writing for “Saturday Night Live," the hit NBC sketch comedy series. He also co-anchored Weekend Update.
Jost started his career as a reporter and copy editor, but after he sent a writing packet to NBC, they offered him a writing position for “Saturday Night Live." He had a fantastic career as a writing supervisor for the show, and much of the show's success is attributed to him.
Jost also went to co-anchor Weekend Update after Seth Meyers left the show to start his show. Jost accepted the position and later went on to break Meyers’ record for being the longest anchor in the history of that segment.
Rise as a Comedy Writer and Stand-Up Comedian
Jost has always been inclined towards comedy since childhood, and he considers Tina Fey as one of his influences. Later, he started dabbling in several aspects related to comedy. He started performing as a stand-up comedian, and his acts were very well-received.
He made appearances on shows like “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” and HBO and TBS. He also became the "New Face" at the Montreal Just for Laughs festival. He later appeared in the Chicago edition of the festival as well.
Comedy writing has always been Jost’s most vital selling point, and he went on to write for the magazine, The New Yorker. He published four pieces for "Shouts and Murmurs" for the magazine. In addition, he also wrote for the Huffington Post, the Radar, The Staten Island Advance, and the New York Times Magazine.
Jost also appeared briefly in the comedy film Staten Island Summer and later in How to be Single. He went on to do stand-up comedy whenever he had a chance. He also opened for comedian Liam McEneaney’s album recording. Jost also made an appearance on “Monday Night Raw” with Michael Che on WWE. He wrote a storyline around wrestler Braun Strowman. Later, both Jost and Che participated in Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal for “WrestleMania."
Jost also wrote his memoir “A Very Punchable Face: A Memoir," where he talks about his life experiences with wit and humor. The book received excellent reviews and became a New York Times Bestseller.
Colin Jost has made his mark in his comedy as few people can, so if you have never attended any of his live shows, you should do it now.
