Dusty Slay

Dusty Slay is an American stand-up comedian. He holds the honor and privilege of being the youngest comedian to have ever performed at the Grand Ole Opry, which is an American country music stage concert that is held on a weekly basis in Nashville, Tennessee.

Born on 18^th May 1982 in Opelika, Alabama, he was brought up in a trailer park. His parents got divorced when he was still young, and he lived with his mother in the trailer park most of the time.

They say that one can take someone out of the trailer park, but it’s not possible to take the trailer park out of that same person. The fact that Slay grew up in not-so-financially-decent conditions makes itself a part of his comedy as well.

He has a fondness for rock music and classic country tunes, and before he became a part of the world of comedy, he had jobs that included selling pesticides and waiting tables. Slay resorted to sobriety in 2012, and he currently lives with his wife and daughter in Nashville.

Career and Accomplishments

In 2004, Slay shifted to Charleston, South Carolina, where he started doing improv comedy before moving to stand-up comedy. Although he kept performing, his gigs weren't really working, due to which he quit.

However, he gave it another go in 2008, and since then, he has never looked away from stand-up comedy. His passion for comedy took him to New York, where he performed as well. In 2014, he moved to Nashville.

Slay has mentioned that one of his biggest inspirations in terms of comedy is Jeff Foxworthy, who is a writer and actor in addition to being a comedian. He also made it to the list of 10 Comics to Watch, which was published by Variety in 2019.

Slay's a stand-up comedy special, which was released on Comedy Central, received a lot of praise, and he has appeared on shows such as The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Last Comic Standing, and Laughs.

He has also been appearing on The Bob & Tom Show for a long time now. Slay also made an appearance on Netflix's The Stand-ups in the year 2021. He participates in the podcast titled Nateland alongside Nate Bargatze, Aaron Weber, and Brillo Pad Bates.
