Erica Rhodes
Erica Rhodes is a stand-up comedian and actress. Ever since she was 10 years old, she has been performing on the radio show, A Prairie Home Companion and has also been a writer for it.
She comes from Newton, Massachusetts. Rhodes went to Boston University College of Fine Arts and completed her graduation at the Atlantic Theater Conservatory.
Career and Accomplishments
She made an appearance on the hit and beloved TV show, New Girl, which also starred Zooey Deschanel, Jake Johnson, Max Greenfield, Hannah Simone, Lamorne Morris, and Damon Wayans Jr.
Rhodes has also been a part of numerous other shows. Some of them include 1,000 Ways to Die, Plague Town, and The Consultants. She was a guest star in the hit sitcom titled Modern Family on ABC and was a regular panelist on @midnight with Chris Hardwick on Comedy Central.
Her comedy appearances have been featured on Hulu’s Coming to the Stage, NBC’s Bring the Funny and Last Call with Carson Daly, SeeSo’s The Guest List, The CW’s Howie Mandel Comedy Extravaganza, and AXS’ Live at Gotham.
Rhodes’ fans have also seen her on IFC’s Comedy Bang Bang and HBO’s Veep. During the Just for Laughs Festival in 2018, she was selected as a New Face.
Her comedy performances made it to multiple comedy festivals and events, such as the RIOT L.A. Fest, the Boston Comedy Festival, the Blue Whale Comedy Festival, the Moontower Comedy Festival, and the San Francisco Sketchfest.
Dr. Katz: The Audiobook, which is a series on Audible, had Rhodes as a recurring character, and she also starred in The Off-Season, which is a series on ABC Digital.
Sad Lemon, which was the name of her first album, hit the number 1 spot on the iTunes comedy charts. Her first one-hour comedy special titled La Vie en Rhodes was a part of the Tribeca Drive-In Fest and is available to be viewed on Amazon Prime.
A Tale Dark and Grimm, which is a popular animation series on Netflix, has an interesting character named Dotty, whose voice is provided by Rhodes.
Jeff Foxworthy, who is the judge of Bring the Funny, once said that Rhodes is the 'best-defined comic voice of the competition.'
Mental Illness Happy Hour, which was a podcast created by Paul Gilmartin in November of 2013, included an appearance by Rhodes, where she spoke about her bipolar disorder.
