Erik Griffin
Erik Griffin is a stand-up comedian, actor, and writer. If you're even remotely aware of the world of comedy, then you might have definitely heard of this loved and well-established comedian.
Brought up in Los Angeles, California, Griffin worked as a basketball coach at a school, where he also handled the paperwork. It was in the year 2003 when he left his job and decided to pursue stand-up comedy as a full-time career.
Career and Accomplishments
One of the roles Griffin is best known for is that of Montez Walker, which he played on Workaholics, the sitcom on Comedy Central, which ran for seven seasons from 2011 to 2017.
He has featured in several other TV shows, such as FX’s You're the Worst, Arrested Development, Bob's Burgers on Fox, Nickelodeon’s Harvey Breaks, One Day at a Time on Netflix, and Blunt Talk with Patrick Stewart on Starz Comedy.
Griffin has also been a part of some movies, namely First Girl I Loved, directed by Kerem Sanga, and Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, which was directed by Jake Szymanski, and starred Adam DeVine and Zac Efron.
The comedian is always seen on tours or as he performs at colleges and comedy clubs. In February 2013, he recorded his half-hour stand-up special for Comedy Central. Technical Foul: Volume One, which was his debut comedy album, came out on 12th March 2013.
When he first started out, there were a couple of shows that helped him gain recognition nationally and internationally, including Live at Gotham on Comedy Central, Last Comic Driving on NBC, Comics Without Borders on Showtime, and Comics Unleashed on MyNetworkTV.
Griffin has also performed for The Payaso Comedy Slam - an evening of delightful stand-up comedy released in 2007. His first stand-up special, titled Erik Griffin: The Ugly Truth, came out in July 2017.
Amerikan Warrior, which was the title of his next comedy special, was released in June of 2018 on Showtime. He has been a part of I'm Dying Up Here, a dark comedy television series, which was created by David Flebotte and had Jim Carrey as one of its executive producers.
Griffin has been a host for the weekly podcast King and the Sting and Wing. In November of 2022, the podcast was renamed to The Golden Hour, where Griffin ended up replacing Theo Von.
