Howie Mandel

Howie Mandel is a Canadian comedian, actor, and TV personality. He has acted in several hit films like Gremlins and Gremlins 2: The New Batch and Walk Like a Man. He has also acted in shows like “St. Elsewhere” and “Bobby’s World." He has been one of the judges on America's Got Talent and Canada's Got Talent for several years.

Despite his prolific acting career, Mandel does comedy whenever he gets the chance. He started his career by performing in the “Comedy Store” and other local clubs. Soon, he was hired as a regular performer. Later, he became a part of the syndicated comedy show, Make Me Laugh, and he appeared regularly on the show for quite some time.

Rise as a Comedian and TV Personality

Mandel hails from North York in Ontario and comes from a Jewish family who came from Romania and Poland. He also worked in carpet sales for some time. He started doing comedy in local clubs of Yuk Yuk, and the audience loved his over-the-top performance, often calling him crazy and borderline psychotic.

Mandel started getting noticed for his performances, and he was booked to open for David Letterman. An official from CBC-TV saw him, and Mandel was offered his own TV special. He also got an offer to star in the Canadian movie Gas and was on Nickelodeon's music video series “PopClips."

Mandel also started getting recognition in the USA after the long and successful run of St. Elsewhere. He also started doing comedy in the USA around this time and was a part of the game show Match Game, and he did a cameo in Michael J. Fox-directed short "The Iceman Hemmeth.”

Mandel started doing a comedy tour named the Watusi Tour, which took him to several cities. He also started doing voiceover and was a part of Muppet Babies. He also starred in the movie Little Monsters. Mandel later got his self-titled comedy show, Howie.

He also got to host his syndicated talk show, The Howie Mandel Show. He also started doing several game shows and has been a regular on America's Got Talent and Canada's Got Talent for several years. He also did a hidden camera segment on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno."
