Rise As A Stand-up Comedian
Although born in New York, Shlesinger moved to Dallas, Texas, with her Jewish family when she was a child. While attending the Greenhill School in Texas, she joined the improvisation team. Next, Schlesinger studied at Boston's Emerson College, where she improved her writing skills and majored in film. Eventually, she joined her college's comedy sketch group, "Jimmy's Travelling All-Stars."
After graduation, Shlesinger shifted to Los Angeles to build a career as a stand-up comedian. She became a popular member of Los Angeles’ comedian group "White Boy Comedy," which led to her first stage show at "The Improv." People started to recognize her more after winning Myspace's "So You Think You're Funny" contest.
Shlesinger started appearing in television credits like "Forbes Celebrity 100", "America's Next Top Producer," "John Oliver's New York Stand Up Show," "Comedy Central Presents Season 14" and many more. However, she achieved success as a comedian after becoming the first woman and the youngest to win the 6th season of NBC's "Last Comic Standing."
In 2010, she came up with a comedy video, "Man Up and Act Like a Lady," and a comedy album, "Iliza LIVE," on her fans' demands. Shlesinger even appeared as a host on TheStream.tv for "The Weakly News" from 2007 to 2012 and on "Excused" from 2011 to 2013. IIiza Shlesinger also made a good reputation as a podcaster and actor. She went on to premiere two specials, "Freezing Hot" and "War Paint" on Netflix.
This incredible comedian lives in her comedy, exaggerating with mannerisms and voices that come to her naturally. Like, she says that she has grown up watching cartoons and sketches from childhood. So characters and voices have always been significant for her. Fans love Shlesinger's tactile comedy style that accentuates her verbal beats. Humor is ingrained in her every minute of action.
It's delightful to see how beautifully she brings her oddity to a comedy stage while exploring different minds of people.
