James began his career by introducing performers. He moved after getting a job at The Punch Line comedy club in Atlanta, where he had to introduce the acts. Eventually, he worked his way up to becoming a performer himself. On February 17, 1982, he did his first show at the Punch Lime.

Career

James is always on tour. He is on the road about three days a week, or 46 weeks a year. He still performs in theaters and comedy clubs to full houses and is still in demand for corporate events. James has been a featured performer for many companies, including Coca-Cola, Hewlett-Packard, Kimberly-Clark, and Kroger. James has also spoken at gatherings hosted by civic and religious organizations as the featured speaker.

James can be heard regularly on syndication shows such as John Boy and Billy, Rick and Bubba, and Bob and Tom. These programs are broadcasted in over 220 different American cities. As a result, he now has millions of people who support him from the ground up.

He was born on May 6, 1946, in the country about 25 miles east of Atlanta, Georgia. At 12, he got his first job at a small country grocery store. By age fifteen, he was going to school and working thirty-seven hours weekly. After graduating from college, James spent nearly 10 years in various sales and government jobs before discovering the joys of stand-up comedy.

James doesn't go through life like walking on broken glass or eggshells. This style can also be seen on stage. He doesn't follow the rules of politics. A lot of his humor is based on brilliant observations of crazy relatives and people who are obsessed with the slightest change in the weather, which is now called "global warming." He makes fun of overprotective parents and environmentalists who are out of control.
