Jay Mohr was born in Verona, New Jersey, on August 23, 1970. His parents were Iva Jean Ferguson and Jon Wood Mohr. His father was in charge of sales, and his mother worked as a nurse. He is related to people from England, Scotland, Wales, and Germany. He was brought up as a Presbyterian but later became a Roman Catholic.
Career
Jay Mohr started as a comedian when he was a regular on Saturday Night Light from 1993 to 1995. On the other hand, Jay Mohr says that his SNL co-star Sarah Silverman helped him during that time. He made, hosted, and was in charge of making the reality show Last Comic Standing, which aired on NBC in 2003 and 2004. After three seasons of airing, the show was canceled due to poor performance. Later, the show returned for a fourth season, but Jay Mohr wouldn't return because he thought the first cancellation needed to be fairer. Anthony Clark took over as host after him.

In 1999, Jay Mohr played Peter Dragon, a movie producer, on the TV show Action.
