Career
After dropping out of college, Jefferies started doing stand-up comedy. He began in his hometown of Sydney, Australia, but then moved to the United Kingdom. When he started doing hour-long sets, he switched to funny stories from his own life. In 2007, when he performed at the Manchester Comedy Festival and was attacked while on stage, he first became known worldwide. He used footage of the event in his act, which you can see on his 2008 DVD Contraband. In 2009, when his first HBO special, I Swear to God, came out, he became well-known in the United States.
Jefferies has appeared at numerous global comedy festivals, including the Edinburgh Fringe, Just for Laughs in Montreal, Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Reading and Leeds Festivals, and Glastonbury. He has also done comedy on Comedy Central shows such as The World Stands Up, Comedy Blue, and Edinburgh and Beyond. With all new material from his Netflix special Freedumb, he embarked on The Unusual Punishment Tour in July 2016. In January 2018, he went to London's Hammersmith Apollo to record his new Netflix special titled, This Is Me Now. On December 17, 2018, he gave the last show of his Night Talker Tour in Melbourne.
