Jim Norton
A good sense of sarcasm always pays off in some way. And people who do it for a living are likely better off financially. At least, this is the case with Jim Norton. Jim Norton is a millionaire because he is so good at making people laugh with his dark humor and observational comedy. He is also a TV host and an author.
Early Life
When Jim was younger, he enrolled at the North Brunswick School. There is some debate about Jim becoming addicted to alcohol at 13. He was then sent to a place in New Jersey where he could get help. After being there for a while, he returned to his normal life and started school again.
Jim went to Middlesex County College. He quit college after only one semester because he wasn't interested in learning. So, he chose to become a forklift driver at a copper company. He was terrible at work, just like in school and college. Because of this, Jim lost his job when he was only twenty three.
Career
Jim Norton decided to become a stand-up comedian when he was 12 years old. When his mother started bringing home comedy CDs from her job, he started paying attention. He has been influenced by Richard Pryor, Woody Allen, George Carlin, and Robert Klein. When Norton was 21, he debuted his first stand-up comedy act. In a bar in Sayreville, New Jersey called Varsity, at an open mic night.
Later, he said that he did a "terrible" job. When asked about the "key" people in his early career, Norton mentions Pat Gaynor, who introduced him that night, and John Magnuson and Ward of Rascals Comedy Club.
Norton spent five years getting better at stand-up comedy after his first show. During that time, he toured New York, Boston, New Jersey, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Florida with two up-and-coming comedians, Jim Florentine, and Bob Levy. Norton was good at making jokes about himself, and other comedians liked it so much that they told him he should use it in his act.
