John Heffron
Stand-up comedy by acclaimed John Heffron is lively and easy to understand. John Heffron talks about many things that people can relate to, from his childhood to his life as a married father. During his travels, he has learned a thing or two about his relationships with family, friends, and even himself. This has given him a sharp, unique, and honest point of view that his comedy peers praise highly.
The Detroit native doesn't want to make fun of differences. Instead, he wants to engage, connect, and teach. People of all ages can relate to his passionate, hard-won wisdom because they know that successes and failures often mark the path to adulthood.
Early Life
John Heffron was born in Detroit, Michigan, on July 19, 1970. He grew up in South Lyon, also in Michigan. In 1993, he graduated from Eastern Michigan University, and in 1988, he graduated from South Lyon High School.
Career
John Heffron was a contestant on the third season of Last Comic Standing and tied with Rich Vos for third place overall. In Season 2, he was the runner-up. He started working as Danny Bonaduce's radio sidekick on a popular Detroit morning show on Q95-5. He also gave commentary on the 2004 TV show My Coolest Years: My First Time and other Video Hits One shows.
He went on tour with Joe Rogan and Charlie Murphy in the Maxim and Bud Light bands. In the fall of 2006, Real Men of Comedy went on tour.
John would frequently miss his evening classes at Eastern Michigan University in order to do stand-up comedy. His first job was hosting the Main Street Comedy Showcase at the University of Michigan. After getting his diploma, John went straight to work in his chosen field. He started performing at more than 80 colleges a year as part of a college tour. At that point, he had been doing comedy for more than four years, so he was an experienced performer.
By the time he was 25, John was a successful stand-up comedian. He also had degrees in communications and psychology, so he decided to use them by working as a sidekick on a morning show. Before going back to Los Angeles, he worked for five years.
John has also performed at the well-known Just Foreign Laughs Festivals in Montreal and Bermuda and the Home Box Office Comedy Festival in Aspen. Magazines like InStyle, Entertainment Weekly, and Glamour say that Julia Roberts, Drew Barrymore, and SNL made it an instant hit. Rachel Dratch and Jon Hamm were seen buying the game.
