Career
Wolf was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and brought up in Amherst. He was quite young when he realized that he enjoyed making people laugh and that too laugh at him. As a teenager, he started doing stand-up comedy in the Boston area. He displayed his talent first at the age of 15. It was when he was in his 20s that he realized he needed a fresh start and moved to Seattle, Washington, aiming to do something in his comedic career. Since indie musicians dominated Seattle's live entertainment scene, he got more stage time and practice in comedy.
Wolf chose to move to Los Angeles when he was 28 years old. After a few years in Seattle, he had made a name for himself in the local comedy scene and was ready to join the big leagues. He immediately realized that competing as an underdog in the comedy industry was just as difficult as it was for him to establish himself as a major player in the port city's entertainment scene.
Wolf's first big break came in 1999 when he did a one-person show at the HBO Workspace. This got him a talent deal with 20th Century Fox and a deal for his TV show with ABC. Soon after, they made a deal with NBC. Wolf decided to test the waters of the TV industry by first getting his foot in the door as a TV writer. He realized this was another facet of the entertainment industry he cherished.
Wolf returned to TV in 2006 when he was on NBC's "Last Comic Standing" for its fourth season. This was also his return to sitcoms. From 2006 to 2009, he was a guest star on the hit show "My Name Is Earl," From 2010 to 2011, he was a guest star and wrote for "Raising Hope."
Wolf also had a great year in 2009. For two seasons, he hosted "The College Experiment," a funny online college sports show for Fox Sports. Wolf stopped touring with Larry the Cable Guy in 2011. He then agreed to appear on "Chelsea Lately" once a week and write for the show at the same time. He also became a New York Times Bestselling Author because he helped write the best-selling book "Lies That Chelsea Handler Told Me" by Chelsea Handler.
