Kevin Bozeman
Bozeman became a household name for many after his performances at the Tivoli Theater to aid the Roadrunners soccer team. Some Downers Grove residents will recognize stand-up comic Kevin Bozeman as a neighbor or acquaintance.
Early Life
Six years after Kevin finished playing basketball at Division III Whitewater College, in 1999, he entered the workforce with little experience but a burning desire to work at least an hour a day and no real qualifications. Kevin was motivated to attend an "Open-Mic Night" after being dared by his roommate and after a few nights of binge-watching Def Comedy Jam on the couch.
Career
Kevin never even considered doing stand-up comedy. Not once did it enter his mind. He was merely following the norms set forth by society at large.
Even though he had a degree in communications, he never felt like he was truly living out his purpose in life. He helped children with cognitive disabilities and troubled teens in group homes. Specifically, he was an insurance salesman. He was a water carrier. The jobs and pay were merely incidental. He was unable to love any of them.
His natural humor made those around him happy. He was the youngest of ten kids. There was a part of him that thought he needed to be hilarious to get a break and a meal.
Kevin is still performing and has found his ideal job. For that one hour every night, he was immensely successful. Kevin has been a hit in clubs and universities nationwide. Thanks to his slick and astute performance style, amazing smile, and infectious laugh. He was the Midwest regional winner of HBO's "Comedy Competition" in 2000, earning him a trip to the finals in Los Angeles. In 2003 he appeared on "Premium Blend" on Comedy Central, and in 2005 he placed second at the Boston Comedy Competition. In 2015, he made it to NBC's "Last Comic Standing semi-finals." Kevin's TV credits include the likes of Comedy Central, NBC, CBS, and Fox. His "Clean & Unfiltered" comedy special from Dry Bar has been viewed over 7 million times.
Since the late 1990s, when he first began out, Kevin has been a successful stand-up comedian performing at venues across the country, including colleges and clubs. In addition, he has released several comedy albums. He serves as an adjunct professor in the Department of Computing and Digital Media at DePaul University.
