Early Life
Kevin Nealon was born to Kathleen, a housewife, and Emmett Nealon, an aircraft manufacturer executive, in St. Louis, Missouri. His family moved to Bridgeport, Connecticut, a few months after his birth. He graduated from Saint Joseph High School in 1971 and got a bachelor's degree in marketing from Sacred Heart University. While doing stand-up comedy, he worked at several part-time jobs.
Career
In 1984, Nealon's first appearance on network TV was a stand-up routine on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. In 1986, his friend Dana Carvey was hired by Saturday Night Live, and Carvey then suggested Nealon. Both actors joined the group that year, with Nealon becoming a regular by the 1987-1988 season and remaining for the next nine years.
In 1991, he played the lead role in the Christmas movie All I Want for Christmas. In the fall of 2005, he played himself in an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm (Season 5, Episode 4).
Nealon played Ted Halverson, the Millers' religious and competitive neighbor, on the CBS comedy Still Standing from 2002 to 2006. In the first season of Monk, he also played a patient in a mental hospital. The Outer Limits has an episode called "Deja Vu." It was shown for the first time on July 9, 1999, during the fifth season. On a 1985 episode of the syndicated game show Sale of the Century, Nealon congratulates and celebrates with the winner, Tim Holleran, who won everything on stage to win $166,875, including $90,000. In the new adventure comedy They Came from Upstairs, Nealon will also play Stuart Pearson. Auckland, New Zealand, is where the filming has begun.
Nealon also hosted the TBS show "World's Funniest Commercials." Nealon tells corny jokes between each funny commercial, just like Bob Saget does. Nealon wrote a book in 2008 called Yes, You're Pregnant, But What About Me? The book is about his personal experiences while his wife was pregnant.
