Luenell

Luenell is a comedian, film, and TV actress known for her roles in movies such as Borat: Cultural Learning of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan (2006) and Hotel Transylvania (2012). In 2015, she was inducted into the Arkansas Black Hall of Fame.

Early Life

Luenell was born on March 12, 1959, in Tollette, a black community in Howard County. Her mother gave birth to her when her father was killed, and since her mother already had seven children, she was taken in by a family from another state. They gave her the name Luenell Campbell and moved her to California.

She attended school in Castro Valley, in the San Francisco Bay Area. Luenell became interested in theater in elementary school and signed up for drama classes. She continued studying theater in college, first at Chabot Junior College (now Chabot College) and then at California State University at Hayward, where she earned her bachelor's degree (now California State University, East Bay). She began acting at the Oakland Ensemble Theatre and doing stand-up comedy.

Career

In the early 1990s, Luenell started her career by appearing on Soul Beat TV on KSBT in Oakland, California. Her first movie role was in So I Married an Axe Murderer, which came out in 1993. Then, in 1996, she appeared in the movie The Rock.

In 2004, she was seen in Never Die Alone. Luenell was in So Fresh, So Clean... a Down and Dirty Comedy the following year. In the 2000s, she appeared in movies such as American Hustle, The Hustle, All About Steve, Head Case, and Spring Breakdown. In the 2010s, she was in Think Like a Man Too, A Star Is Born, Dolemite Is My Name, and The Comedian's Guide to Survival, among other movies.

Luenell's first TV show was Nash Bridges, which aired in 1996. In 2019, she was on the TV show Hollywood Unlocked. In 2004, she was also on The Tracy Morgan Show. She participated in the Laugh Out Loud Comedy Festival in 2011.

In addition to Snoop Dogg Presents The Bad Ladies of Comedy and Hello Luenell, Luenell has appeared in other TV movies. Coming 2 America, the next film she will be in, was released in 2021. She also appeared in the movie All-Star Weekend.

In 2012, Luenell was a voice actor for the animated movie Hotel Transylvania. She reprised her role in Hotel Transylvania 2 in 2015.
