Maz Jobrani
Maziyar Jobrani, or Maz Jobrani, as he is popularly known, is an American actor, comedian, and writer. He performed with the group Axis of Evil and also appeared on Comedy Central with some of his solo shows. He has also starred in quite a few films and TV shows and is also a regular on the radio. Jobrani frequently performs in various comedy clubs nationwide, and his shows are almost always sold out.
Jobrani has appeared in films like Friday After Next, Dragonfly, and The Interpreter. He has also been a part of the sitcom Superior Doughnuts. He is also the author of the book, “Maz Jobrani (2015). I'm Not a Terrorist, But I've Played One On TV: Memoirs of a Middle Eastern Funny Man". The book was very well-received, and he highlighted some of the stereotypes that brown-skinned people were still subjected to in America.
Achievements as a Comedian and Actor
Jobrani was drawn to acting and comedy from a young age and performed in his school drama group. He went on to study political science in college and also enrolled for his Ph.D. However, he dropped out and decided to pursue acting for two years and decided if it didn't work out, he would return to complete his Ph.D. But his career took, and he never had to look back.
Jobrani has appeared in shows like The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Colbert Report, and The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, among others. He has also been featured on Talkshow with Spike Feresten and Whitney. He has been a part of the cast of Cedric, the Entertainer Presents, and Malcolm in the Middle, along with The West Wing, 13 Going on 30, and Bug.
Jobrani has appeared on NPR's quiz show with a news-oriented format titled Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me. Later, he started touring with Axis of Evil. He also did the voiceover for the audiobook World War Z and wrote for Jimmy Vestvood: Amerikan Hero. Jobrani also hosts his comedy podcast, "All Things Comedy," to which other comedians are also invited.
