Achievements as a Comedian and Other Accolades
Kasher had a difficult childhood that he described explicitly in his memoir. He was a child of deaf parents and had to learn how to communicate with sign language. As a result, he also worked as a sign language interpreter while he was still relatively young. His parents split up later, but he was already facing difficulties with his addiction to drugs during his teenage years.
Kasher decided to turn his life around and started attending college, where he studied theater and also became a professor of Jewish history. However, he was soon drawn to the world of open-mic comedy after watching Chelsea Peretti’s performance. He offered to perform for her, started touring with her, and went to the Luggage Store Gallery in San Francisco.
Kasher initially performed in the Bay Area but slowly started expanding his horizons. He started performing in some prestigious comedy clubs and was a part of several comedy shows. Later, he was named the "Best of the Fest" at the Aspen Rooftop Comedy Festival. His success there got him an invitation to perform at the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal.
Later, Kasher also appeared in the Comedy Central series, Live at Gotham. He has also been a part of talk shows like Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and John Oliver’s New York Stand Up Show, Fun Fun Fun Fest. He has been to Melbourne Comedy Festival, SF Sketchfest, and Sasquatch! Music Festival in Georgia. Besides, he has also been a part of Conan and has often been a panelist on Chelsea Lately.
Moshe Kasher has also done some acting, and he has been a part of independent films like Sorry, Thanks, Traffic Light, and the television series Shameless. However, watching his live performance is still one of the best things you can do, so do not miss out.
