Newsies - The Musical
The Broadway Musical is a thrilling and joyful show that has won over many people's hearts.
The 1899 Newsboys Strike inspired the 1992 musical film, Newsies, which in turn became the basis for this performance. It follows Jack Kelly, the flamboyant leader of the Manhattan newsboys, as he creates a union of Newsies in response to a price increase in the newspapers they buy to sell to the public.
In September 2011, the musical opened at the Paper Mill Playhouse. After a sold-out run, it moved to Broadway's Nederlander Theater in March 2012, where it was played for two-and-a-half years.
Many people didn't see it coming, but Newsies: The Broadway Musical was a big hit. What made it so famous? The fact that it talks about how young, poor boys are taken advantage of and treated unfairly makes it a unique show that is both entertaining and profoundly moving. It is based on a movement that changed America.

All of New York City learns quickly, thanks to the efforts of the stunning reporter Katherine Plumber, that "the little man" actually wields considerable influence.
