Nicole Byer
Nicole Byer is a stand-up comedian, TV host, and actress. Born on 29th August 1986 in Middletown Township, New Jersey, she shifted to New York during the early 2000s. She then started working as a waitress at a restaurant and
cabaret club and simultaneously studied improv during this period.
She started attending classes at the Upright Citizens Brigade, and her stint with improv and sketch comedy commenced in June of 2008, and that's what she stuck to before starting her career in stand-up comedy in 2013.
Career and Accomplishments
In 2013, Byer started making an appearance on MTV’s Girl Code. She went on to host the first season of MTV's Are You the One? The Aftermatch Live in 2014.
2016 saw her perform supporting roles in three different shows. The first was Girl Code; the second was Ladylike, a hidden camera prank show, and the third was Party Over Here, which was a sketch comedy series on Fox.
Byer has been a part of endless TV shows. Some of them include 30 Rock, Lady Dynamite, Family Guy, BoJack Horseman, Young & Hungry, Bob's Burgers, Little Big Awesome, RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars, The Good Place, The Simpsons, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
She has been hosting the Netflix original bake-off series Nailed It! since March of 2018, for which she has been nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Competition Program thrice, every year from 2020 to 2022.
Byer is the first Black woman to have ever been nominated in this category.
Loosely Exactly Nicole, which is a single-camera comedy, premiered on MTV in 2016. Not only does it star Byer, but it has also been written by her and is based on her story. Although it was canceled post the first season: it was picked back up by Facebook Watch.
Byer hosts not one but four podcasts, namely Why Won't You Date Me?, Best Friends!, 90 Day Bae, and Newcomers.
She was part of a Smirnoff ad campaign in 2018 along with actor Ted Danson. Byer came out with her book titled #VERYFAT #VERYBRAVE: The Fat Girl's Guide to Being #Brave and Not a Dejected, Melancholy, Down-in-the-Dumps Weeping Fat Girl in a Bikini in 2020.
Along with TV shows, she has also been a part of multiple movies. A couple of those movies include A Better You, Other People, Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, All About Nina, Bad Hair, Valley Girl, Vivo, Unplugging, The Bob's Burgers Movie, and Mack & Rita.
