BOK Center
The BOK Center—or the Bank of Oklahoma Center—is Tulsa’s most impressive indoor sports and event venue. The BOK, which can accommodate hockey, basketball, arena football, and concerts, holds nearly 20,000 people. To learn about this new Tulsa landmark and why you should visit, keep reading.
A visionary infrastructure project, the BOK opened in 2008, just three years after development began in 2005. Costing $196 million, it is a major investment for the City of Tulsa. American-Argentinian architect Cesar Pelli created the design. He is also responsible for a number of well-known projects around the world, such as the World Financial Center in New York City and the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur. Bright white and adorned in a massive curved glass side, the BOK is a work of art from the outside.
Inside the BOK, there are over a dozen amenities to be enjoyed. The Filling Station and The Backstage are popular spots, offering typical arena snacks, from pretzels to hot dogs. Four Corners is a grilled cheese shop, sure to please patrons of all ages. The Candy Shop is packed with sweet boxed treats to bring back to the seats. There’s also Frank’s Gourmet Dogs for fancy dogs with all the fixings, Doc Popcorn for unique nature-inspired flavors, Papa Johns for pizza, Roadie’s Grill for wings burgers and more, Wholly Tacomoli for quick Mexican bites, Billy’s for bar food basics, Oh Poutine! for Canada-inspired gourmet fries, and more. There is also a variety of bars located throughout the stadium, from Skyy Vodka Bar to 918 Local Brews Bar.
As much as the amenities improve a venue experience, people go for the games and events. Because the BOK Center team is the Tulsa Oilers—a minor league professional hockey sports team—they obvious show up at the center on a regular basis. But beyond sports, there are a multitude of concerts happening regularly. Some upcoming ones include the Jonas Brothers, Heart, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Billie Eilish, Carrie Underwood, Tool, Casting Crowns, and MercyMe. There are also a number of live shows that come to town and perform at the venue, such as Paw Patrol Live and Baby Shark Live. In other words—there is something for everyone at the BOK, whether you are planning a family fun day or a night out with the guys.
Set between 1st and 3rd street, the BOK Center is an unmissable landmark downtown, just south of the Brady Arts District at 200 South Denver Ave. W., Tulsa 74103. Get your tickets today.
