Plot Summary
It's time for Christmas dinner at the Davidsons, but things aren't as good as they should be. George no longer has a job. Jackie is waiting for the unemployment check to fill boxes (gifts) under the tree before Christmas arrives. Jackie is doing her best to maintain the Christmas spirit as she doesn't want to disappoint her family.
While the check doesn't arrive, the Davidsons end up having guests due to a snowstorm. The guests turn out to be an Amish couple, a soft-spoken farmer and his outspoken wife. The couple gets stuck in the storm, and they have no choice but to seek shelter at Davidson's house. Another couple arrives for dinner, and this turns out to be Jackie's brother and his fiancé. This sudden get-together leads to discussions leading to contrasting opinions and new perspectives.
So what does the season have in store for the Davidsons and other couples? What do they learn from each other? How does Our Christmas Dinner celebrate different ideas and the spirit of the season?
The musical has a theme of music and memories and runs for 90 minutes. It is presented as an Amish take on the 1967 movie, Guess Who's Coming to Dinner. Martha Bolton, Wally Nason, and Dan Posthuma are the famous trio that works with the Blue Gate Musicals Company and create heartwarming musicals.
