The Riveting Paradise Square

The fascinating plot with electrifying dance performances is beautifully woven with the tough lives of Irish Settlers and Black inhabitants in the US. In 1863, the two racially divergent groups faced various challenges and difficulties due to the Civil War.

As the plot grows, you will realize that the poor people lived for a brutal, uncertain future. The socio-economic differences and frictions are portrayed gorgeously in this 2-hour 35-minute musical.

Paradise Square was a public place where most of the events took place. These events lead to the devastating July 1963 Draft Riots in New York.

The African Americans living in Lower Manhattan faced harsh living conditions and were downtrodden at every turn. They couldn't live in harmony due to the community's reactions caused by the change in power with President Lincoln's institute of the Federal Draft.

Cast and Crew

This sobering play is directed by the famous director Moises Kaufman and is skillfully choreographed by Bill T. Jones. The melodies by Jason Howland, 'I Will Not Die in Springtime' and 'We Are Coming Father Abraham' will take you on a melodic journey.

Joaquina Kalukango plays the leading role of Nelly O'Brien. She will tickle you with her performance on "Let It Burn" in the show. Annie Lewis is dramatized by Chilina Kennedy.

The immensely talented cast and crew promise you full entertainment and value-for-money performance.

Big Bang At Tony Awards

Paradise Square was awarded the Best Musical play. Also, the Best Actress Award was bagged by Joaquina Kalukango at the 75th Tony Award.
