Cirque du Soleil - O: Tour, Schedule, Tickets and more...
Another water-themed stage had been produced by Cirque du Soleil, an entertainment company featuring a Canadian Circus. Since October 1998, the show has been performing at the Bellagio in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States. The O Theater looks the same way to an archaic vision of a 14th-century European Opera House, which consists of 1,800 seats and can be watched by 3,600 people...
“O”, in theater, pronounced as eau, is a French word for “water” which is expressed to have a 1.5-million-US-gallon (5,700 m3) pool of water, with water performances such as synchronized swimming as well as ground and aerial shows. Inspired by the elegance of water’s pure form, “O” tends to take place in the beauty and excellency of the theater.
It comprises 150 stage operators assisting the production. The show has 85 acrobats performing in a 1.5 million gallon pool. These are synchronized swimmers, high-energy international acrobats and divers collaborated as one on stage. The cast of O includes many unique characters like Philemon (Guifa), Le Vieux, Comets, Masked Thief, Le Travesti, L Allume, Barrel Organ Grinder, Zebras and Aurora.
“O” is a show that encompasses 11 acts, which are played both inside, outside and above the water. These acts are the Aerial Hoops, Berge, Clowns, Cadre, Bataue, Contortion, Fire, Duo Trapeze, Russian Swing, High Dive, Washington Trapeze and Synchronized Swimming. Sometimes, it does have changes in the show due to the nature of the acts of the show. The content and the time may also differ from time to time.
O’s music composed by Benoit Jutras features a mix of classical Western and world instrumentation. It was first recorded at the Bellagio and released on November 24, 1998 and was re-released on September 6, 2005.
As of 2011, O has earned over a billion dollars since 1998. O has achieved many awards, including: Entertainment Design Award, Best Production Show (1998); Las Vegas Review-Journal, Best Production Show (1999-2006); THEA, live show category (1999); and Prix Italia, Creativity in High Definition (2009) for the Documentary Flow.
