Pete Holmes
Pete Holmes is a comedian, writer, actor, and podcaster. Born on 30th March 1979 in Boston, Massachusetts, he was brought up in Lexington, Massachusetts.
After finishing high school at Lexington High School, he graduated with a degree in English and Communications from Gordon College in Wenham, Massachusetts, in 2001.
Around this time, he started doing improv comedy while being associated with a troupe known as The Sweaty-Toothed Mad Men.
Career and Achievements
Holmes' career in comedy commenced in New York City. He performed at clubs and participated in Comedy Central's Premium Blend. As a panelist, he was a regular on VH1's Best Week Ever and All Access.
Holmes' cartoons have made an appearance in The New Yorker since the year 2006. He also created a Doritos ad for Super Bowl XLIII in 2009, which he starred in as well. He took up the role of a touring comic and was associated with the Christian comedy circuit.
Holmes’ performances were a part of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and John Oliver's New York Stand Up Show in 2010. His first television special took place on Comedy Central Presents on 26th February 2010.
He made appearances on the talk show, Conan, in March 2011 and November 2011. His very first album came out on iTunes on 15th November 2011 and was titled Impregnated With Wonder. Holmes’ second album came out in 2013 and was called Nice Try, The Devil.
He launched You Made It Weird with Pete Holmes, which is the name of his long-form comedy podcast, in the year 2011.
Several guests and celebrities have appeared on this podcast, including Judd Apatow, Garry Shandling, John Mulaney, Aziz Ansari, Dana Carvey, and Ben Schwartz. Some of the topics discussed on the podcast include religion, sexuality, and comedy.
He was a writer for Outsourced, the NBC primetime sitcom, as well as for I Hate My Teenage Daughter, the sitcom on Fox.
Faces and Sounds, his third comedy special, was released in 2016. He came out with his fourth album, Dirty Clean, in 2019. His book titled Comedy Sex God was released on 14th May 2019, described as a "part autobiography, part philosophical inquiry, and part spiritual quest."
