The Quirky Creativity
The bestselling memoir was set to premiere in 2020 and is now running successfully near you.
Silverman and profoundly missed Adam Schlesinger gave the melody to the musical. Anne Kauffman, famous for her outrageousness, has directed the wittiest show of the season.
Dazzling strobe lights, blurry haze, sassy language, and desperation make it different from others. The themes related to puberty, depression, and infidelity combined with stern dialogues justify the intensity. All this makes the play realistic and enthralling.
Sarah Silverman
The plot opens with a story of a ten-year-old girl Sarah, who has shifted to a new town after her parent's divorce and is keen to make new friends in the school.
But her abruptness leaves no chance to save her from being mocked. And Mrs. Dembo, the school warden, gets hilariously annoyed with her, which makes her feel awkward in the school. But by the end of the day, after all her struggles, she manages to make friends through her wisdom.
Sarah's mom Beth Ann, once a full-of-life woman, is now bedridden due to the depression caused by her son's death. Sarah is dealing with her not-so-loving family, and her new school is now struggling to love her bedwetting mother.
The background music halts for a while whenever there is emotional turmoil. It also states the mental instability of the whole family dealing with the sad situation.
Silverman's attempt to unveil the realities of the male chauvinist society is exceptionally commendable. She has torn society's dirty veils and presented the truth in the most comical yet ironical manner.
The final number resonating towards the end of the show is a heart-wrenching tribute by Sarah to her late friend Adam that will surely make your heart scream.
After watching her crude autobiography, you cannot be saved from her charm and wit. You'll love to be a part of her life and deal with the situations she always did.
