About The Kite Runner

Amir is a small boy from Kabul who belongs to an affluent family. He had sinned against his kite runner friend-cum-servant, Hassan. His emotional journey is where he tries to confront his past misdeeds and finds eternal bliss.

The plot begins with the beautiful day of a kite flying tournament. But fate chooses its own will, and Hassan, the Kite Runner, is sexually molested, and Amir fails to save his friend. He then gets surrounded by feelings of guilt.

A mysterious call offering him to become a good man again baffled him. He, without any second thought, started on a difficult trip to Kabul. His culpability prevented him from thinking about the repercussions.

The play is based on the debut work of Afghan- American writer Khaled Hosseini. It was premiered in 2009 at San Jose Repertory Theatre and now running at Hayes Theatre on Broadway. Matthew Spangler has beautifully directed it.
