Little Caesars Arena
Metro Detroit is loaded with event venues, including Ford Field, Comerica Park, The Palace, Joe Louis Arena, DTE Energy Music Theatre, Chene Park, Fox Theatre, The Masonic of Detroit, The Fillmore Detroit, Detroit Opera House, Sound Board at MotorCity Casino, Fisher Theatre, Harpos, and more. Among these spaces is a new kid on the block: Little Caesars Arena. Although it is a multi-purpose arena, it specializes in all things ice. The fourth-largest ice hockey arena in the world, it is no wonder why the Detroit Red Wings call it home. However, the dynamic space is also the new home of the Detroit Pistons, accommodating NFL as well as NHL, which underscores the versatility of the new build.
Those who seldom go out to events in Metro Detroit may not have been to Little Caesars Arena yet, because it is a new fixture of Midtown. Ground broke in 2014, but official construction did not begin until the following year. The project was expedited, finishing in September of 2017.
Most people can find something to see and celebrate at the new arena. It is designed to hold 19,515 for ice hockey, 20,491 for basketball, and 15,000-22,000 for concerts. The space flanked with several large entrances off of Cass Avenue, Henry Street, Sproat Street, and Woodward Avenue, making it navigable whether guests park onsite or blocks away in one of the many local parking garages. Inside, amenities include 1701 Pub, District Market Express, Canadian Club Bar, Bud Light, Jack Daniel’s Bar, 313 Grill Co., Dogs & Snacks, Budweiser Biergarten, Mike’s Pizza, Sports & Social, Via Sports Bar, Popcorn & Gelato, Classics Concessions, The Coops, Craft Cocktail Bar, Labatt Blue Zone, and—of course—multiple Little Caesars stops for pizza cravings.
Upcoming events include Jurassic World, Detroit Red Wings vs. Ottawa Senators, Detroit Pistons vs. Atlanta Hawks, Detroit Red Wings vs. Carolina Hurricanes, Detroit Pistons vs. Orlando Magic, Detroit Red Wings vs. Toronto Maple Leafs, Detroit Red Wings vs. Pittsburgh Penguins, WWE: Smackdown, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Cirque du Soleil – Axel, Chance the Rapper, The Lumineers, Disney On Ice: Road Trip Adventures, Blake Shelton, Billie Eilish, Elton John, the NCAA Frozen Four Finals, and more.
