Daniel Tosh
Daniel Tosh is a stand-up comedian and a writer and producer, too. He started pursuing his career in comedy after graduating with a Marketing degree from the University of Central Florida in December 1996 and started working as a telemarketer at Central Florida Research Park. He then moved to Los Angeles to kickstart his life as a stand-up comic.
Thinking back about his life before comedy, he believes that even though he had interviews lined up, he knew deep down that it was not the trajectory he wished to follow in life. Dan has also mentioned that it’s his upbringing in Florida that made him decide to work in the field of comedy.
He got married to a writer, Carly Hallam, during a private ceremony in Malibu, California, on 15th April 2016.
Career and Achievements
Dan began to explore the circle of comedy immediately after college. He was a part of the Just for Laughs comedy festival held in Montreal in 1998, and his act got televised in 2000 at the Théâtre Saint-Denis in Montreal.
The turning point of his career took place in 2001 when he appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman. He was then seen on shows such as Comedy Central's Premium Blend, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
Daniel went on to host Tens, a late-night comedy show in Florida, and was also a spokesman in commercials for Taco Bell. He is a regular guest on certain radio shows, namely Kevin and Bean, Loveline, and The Bob & Tom Show.
He performed a comedy special on Comedy Central Presents in 2003, and his stand-up special titled Daniel Tosh: Completely Serious aired on Comedy Central in June 2007.
Daniel's comedy special, Daniel Tosh: Happy Thoughts, received 3.25 million views when it premiered in March 2011 on Comedy Central. It was also released on DVD later on.
He was the voice behind the character, Malloy, in Brickleberry, a sitcom on Comedy Central, of which he was also an executive producer.
As per Forbes, Daniel’s net worth was $11 million in 2013, making him among the wealthiest comedians, which isn’t surprising given his fame and talent. He hosted an annual stand-up show, Tosh Saves The World, the proceeds of which went to several charities.
