The “Kansas City Chiefs” is a professional American football team situated in Kansas City, Missouri. The team is part of the West Division, which plays in the American Football Conference (AFC) of the National Football League (NFL).
In the year 1960, the team was founded as a charter member of the American Football League (AFL) under Lamer Hunt’s ownership. The Kansas City Chiefs were originally named as the Dallas Texans. At the time of the AFL-NFL merger in the year 1970, the team officially joined the National Football League (NFL). According to Forbes Magazine, the team’s approximate value is $1 billion. The “Kansas City Chiefs” is a team legally registered as the Kansas City Chiefs Foot Club.
The early years of the team turned out to be successful; in fact, the Chiefs won three championships in the AFL during the years 1962, 1966 and 1969. The Kansas City Chiefs were recognized as one of the most successful franchises of the American Football League (AFL).
For the record, the team was the second AFL team to have beaten an NFL franchise during the AFL-NFL World Championship Game. Next to New York Jets, the Chiefs won the Super Bowl IV by defeating the Minnesota Vikings.
The Chiefs are seen as threats against their rival teams. The team’s victory to date on January 11, 1970 was the team’s last championship victory and appearance. The team ranked next to the Green Bay Packers, to appear in several Super Bowl championships. The Kansas City Chiefs were also the first team to play the championship game in two separate decades.
The current training camp and practice area of the team is done in their own training facility close to the Arrowhead Stadium. The Chiefs’ uniform design comprises of red helmet and jerseys of either white or red with a mixed of the opposite color on the jersey’s numbers and names.
