Girl From the North Country
Broadway meets Bob Dylan in this one-of-a-kind musical theater number! Don’t be surprised. Girl From North the Country is the second play to feature Dylan’s music in its many successful Broadway runs. The musical genius of Dylan is used again and again to carry the essence of the play with minimal changes.
It all started with the 2017 West End run becoming an underdog success and hitting Broadway in 2018. Currently, the revived version from 2020 with reiterations of the first production is going places.

Broadway Redefining Dylan’s Magic
The play is based on the book by Conor McPherson but what makes it stand out is the music score and lyrics, all by Bob Dylan. Rarely do we get to see a sensation like Dylan after the first The Times They Are-a Changin’?
Tristan Baker and Charlie Parsons have produced the revival. While the openings were quite successful in early 2020, the show was shut down because of the global pandemic. But, thanks to the glowing reviews, acclaimed and fan-favorite music, and long runs at West End, Toronto, and Off-Broadway, Girl from the North Country took significantly less time to resume.
Revisiting The Great Depression
The Great Depression might be one of the most talked-about and scarring evenings in the wake of the World War. So, the real challenge during the production was capturing its true essence without downplaying the aftermath.
Conon McPherson deserves a shout-out for showing the day-to-day impact of the financial crisis by making the play entirely approachable. The story is about the Laine family, Dr. Walker, and the problems young adults Gene and Marianne face while dealing with society with a lack of funds and zero social standing.
An air of melancholy will grip you as you witness it come alive on stage. It forces you to address the real problems of your life but also gives you hope to sail through them. The play deals with the journey and growth of these people who essentially deal with confidence issues and still stand upright.
You must see the play unfolding on stage, taking you through this journey. And to make it smoother, there are around 19 Bob Dylan songs with hits like Sweetheart Like You, Like A Rolling Stone, and License to Kill, making you feel all shades of emotions. So, why wait for anything? Just get your first tickets to the staging and treat yourself to a thoughtful evening.
