The Magical Ride on the Theatrical Carpet
Both Chad Beguelin, the original creator of the story, and Alan Menken brought together the Broadway musical Aladdin to do justice to the play’s growing popularity. The show has a mixed blend and still retains the four memorable songs written by Menken and Beguelin. Aladdin carries the old-world charms of the play but takes a contemporary form.
The world of Agrabah first came alive on stage in 2011 with its first Broadway production. While most of the classic Disney movie elements and plotlines were retained, the play underwent a little tweaking.
Aladdin's Journey
Aladdin's Broadway production narrates the same story by Beguelin. It takes us through the lanes of Agrabah, where the innocent and charming Aladdin is trying to save Princess Jasmine. Throughout this journey, he gets a little help from someone special and exotic - someone magical. Additionally, you'll meet characters like Rajah, the magic carpet, etc.
The production involves a lot of special effects and medieval music. But Broadway theaters make sure fans don’t miss out on any of them.
We also get a glimpse of the fantastic writing by lyricists Ron Clements, John Musker, Terry Rossio, and Beguelin himself. The Aladdin music has always been a fan favorite, with classics like Arabian Nights and A Whole New World making the musical experience even better.
History With Broadway
The show, Aladdin first premiered on Broadway in 2014. It retained the same cast from its Seattle Premier. With a bit of halt due to the COVID 19 pandemic, the show has been going steadily. So far, it has 5 Tony Awards Nominations in the drama segment and immense popularity across the globe.
