Paul Rodriguez

Paul Rodriguez is a stand-up comedian and actor. Born on 19th January 1955 in Culiacan, Sinaloa, he moved to Compton, California, with his family after joining the United States Air Force. He was stationed in Iceland and also in Duluth, Minnesota.

Rodriguez is known to engage himself in plenty of charity work, and he also sheds light on serious issues pertaining to the Latino community during many of his comedy shows. He has been a part of numerous Comic Relief charity specials. He is the chairman of the California Latino Water Coalition. The group focuses on remedying the water situation in California. Rodriguez has a son named Paul Rodriguez Jr., who is renowned for being a professional skateboarder.

Career and Achievements

Developed by Embassy Television for ABC, Rodriguez appeared in a.k.a. Pablo, a sitcom that aired in 1984 but got canceled after six episodes. He appeared regularly on Trial and Error, which was a sitcom that was released in 1988. The show got canceled after three episodes.

During that same year, he took over Bob Eubanks to become the host of The Newlywed Game for one season, during which it was called The Newlywed Game starring Paul Rodriguez. He played the host for MTV Tr3́s comedy home video series Mis Videos Locos for two seasons and 40 episodes between 2010 to 2011. The show centers on videos of Latino individuals who are followed using mobile phones and surveillance cameras across multiple countries.

Rodriguez has been a part of numerous movies. Some of those movies include The Whoopee Boys, D.C. Cab, Quicksilver, Miracles, Born in East L.A., Made in America, A Million to Juan, Rough Magic, Melting Pot, Price of Glory, G-Men From Hell, Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles, and Tortilla Soup.

 Rodriguez played the director for the movie, A Million to Juan, along with starring in it. He also turned producer for the movie, The Original Latin Kings of Comedy. He has done voice overs for King of the Hill, Dora the Explorer, and Beverly Hills Chihuahua.

Rodriguez produced his stand-up special, Paul Rodriguez: Comedy Rehab, in 2009. His live performance, Paul Rodriguez: Just for the Record, came out in 2011. He made it to the 100 Greatest Stand-ups of all Time list by Comedy Central in 2004 by ranking in the 74th position. Rodriguez was also honored with the Humanitarian of the Year Award for his contributions to water conservation, as recognized by the City of Fresno.
