He opted for stand-up comedy in the 1970s and quickly became very popular with his scintillating and pleasant nature.

Early Life

On April 28th, 1950, Leno was born in New Rochelle, New York. His mother, Catherine Muir, emigrated to the United States from Greenock, Scotland when she was 11 years old. Angelo (1910-1994), his father, was an insurance agent and the son of Italian immigrants from Flumeri. Leno went to high school in Andover, Massachusetts. He went to Emerson College and earned a speech therapy bachelor's degree. In 1973, he started a comedy club there. When Leno left "The Tonight Show," he still did stand-up and made TV appearances. Jay Leno has a second reality show, Jay Leno's Garage, on CNBC about his love of vehicles. He has penned multiple books, including the autobiography Leading with My Chin.
