The show, directed and penned by Deborah Colker, celebrated Cirque’s 25th anniversary on April 23, 2009, in Montreal, QC.

The word Ovo in Portuguese means egg. An egg represents the life cycles of different insects and their birth. The beautiful poster of the musical is very creative. It contains two big ‘O’s that form the eyes of the insect and a huge ‘V’ in the center that depicts the antenna and the head. 

Chantal Tremblay, the Director of Creation, will surprise you with the colorful dwellings of various insects beaming with life, action, and emotional moments in their lives, just like humans.

Plot - The World Of Insects

The hidden world of creatures is unveiled before you to explore and understand their role in the universe.

The plot turns interesting when the Foreigner, a fly from another land, comes with a mysterious egg on her back. The lonely Ladybug, waiting for some beautiful miracle to happen in her life, falls in love with her. She is excited to imagine the changes in her with Foreigner’s company.

But an intelligent and peculiar bug, Master Flippo, the leader of all insects, is apprehensive about her. All the insects see it skeptically as it represents the conundrum of their life cycles.

All the following events with impressive acrobatic performances by artists draped as insects are incredible. Imagine what an experience it would be to watch an insect emerging from its silk cocoon, aerial straps duo by butterflies, fireflies juggling diabolos, fighting between two cute flies, and much more!

The Magnificent Set

Bird nests and colonies of different insects inspired Gringo Cardia while designing the splendid stage for slippery creatures. The gigantic egg placed at the beginning symbolizes fertility and life.

You’ll love to watch the colossal projection screen working as the tramp-wall from where the performers climb and bounce off as insects. The mesmerizing 30ft. tall flowers are another element of awe for you.
