Tampa Bay Buccaneers Games
The “Tampa Bay Buccaneers” (often called as the Bucs) is a professional American Football team situated in Tampa, Florida. The team is part of the South Division, which plays in the National Football Conference (NFC) of the National Football League (NFL).
Along with the Seattle Seahawks, the Bucs formally joined the league as an expansion team in the year 1976. As part of the expansion plan, the team played their first season in the American Football Conference (AFC) West. The Bucs and the Seattle Seahawks had switched conferences after the Bucs’ first season and became a member of the NFC, this was intended so that both teams could play twice during their first two seasons.
In the recent times, the Buccaneers are owned by the Glazer Family. The team plays their home games at Raymond James Stadium based in Tampa.
During the post-merger expansion, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are the first team to win a playoff and the division title in the 1979 season. They were also the first team to achieve a complete winning season since the merger. The Bucs’s first losing season happened in the years 1976 and 1977, at the time, they had lost a total of 26 games.
After their frequent winnings during the early 1970s and 1980s, the Bucs experienced their own story of struggles by losing 14 consecutive seasons after 1980s. At the end of the 2002 season, the team won the Super Bowl XXXVII and was also recognized as one of the most consistent playoff contenders at that time. After their Super Bowl victory in the year 2002, the team has not returned to the Super Bowls.
The term “Tampa Bay” is commonly used as a description of the geographic urban zone of its cities around the body of water known as Tampa Bay. The name “Tampa Bay” given to the Buccaneers represents the whole region, not just the Tampa or St. Petersburgh region.
