Tennessee Titans Games
The “Tennessee Titans” is a professional American football team situated Nashville, Tennessee. The team is part of the South Division, which plays in the American Football League (AFL) of the National Football League (NFL).
In the year 1960, the Houston Oilers (former name of the Titans) started to play as a charter member of the AFL in Houston. After they won two AFL championship games, the team officially joined the National Football League (NFL) during the AFL-NFL merger in the year 1970. The Titans are originally owned by Bud Adams.
The team transferred to Nashville and played their home games at the Vanderbilt Stadium. Vanderbilt Stadium was the largest stadium in Nashville at that time, however, Vanderbilt could only carry 41,000 seats and believed that the Stadium’s capacity was still too small.
Adams declined to play in Vanderbelt and revealed that the Oilers would play their home games for the next two seasons at the Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium, located in Memphis.
The Oilers renamed itself as ‘Tennesse Oilers’ at the time they moved to Memphis to play their next two seasons at the Stadium.
In the year 1999, the Oilers changed its name to Titans in response to the requests of their fans and to fully coincide with the launching of the new stadium. The issue was formally announced by the team’s owner Bud Adams.
The team plays their home games at LP Field based in Nashville, the field was launched in the year 1999 as the Adelphia Coliseum.
The team achieved their first victory as the ‘Titans’ beating the Bengals. Their gaming history in Nashville turned out really successful. In fact, the Titans won several games including their first round playoff game with the Buffalo Bills. For 17 seasons, the team was coached by Jett Fisher since the year 1994 until 2010.
The name ‘Titans’ represents strength, power, leadership and other heroic qualities.
