Eddie Griffin

Eddie Griffin is a stand-up comedian and actor. When Comedy Central came out with its list of 100 Greatest Stand-ups of All Time, Griffin ranked 62 on that list.

Born on 15th July 1968 in Kansas City, Missouri, he was raised by his mother, Doris Thomas. When Griffin was 16 years old, he shifted to Compton, California, where he lived with his cousins.

He took up jobs such as painting houses and dancing before embracing stand-up as a full-time career.

Career and Achievements

Griffin’s first step into the world of comedy can be traced back to 1989 when he performed at an open mic night on a bet, which ended with him receiving a standing ovation for all the stories he said about his family.

He was soon performing gigs all over town and also in Los Angeles. As he climbed the ladder of success, he also became popular for doing guest sets at The Comedy Store on open mic nights, making the audience laugh long and hard till the next comic came up on stage.

Griffin has made appearances in several movies. Some of them include The Meteor Man, The Walking Dead, Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo, Double Take, Undercover Brother, Scary Movie 3, John Q, Norbit, Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo, and Urban Justice.

He has also been a part of television shows, such as Malcolm & Eddie, which ran from 1996 to 2000, and Chappelle's Show in the skit titled World Series of Dice, where Griffin appeared as Grits n' Gravy.

Griffin's performance made it to two tracks in 2001, which was an album by the rapper Dr. Dre that came out in 1999. His performance was also seen in the intro song in Helter Skelter, an album released in 1996 by The D.O.C.

The stand-up comedian has been in commercials such as Miller Beer's Man Laws. His stand-up comedy special titled You Can Tell 'Em I Said It was released on DVD by Comedy Central in 2011.

Griffin's stand-up special, known as E-Niggma, was released in December 2019 on Showtime. Some of his other comedy specials include Voodoo Child, which came out in 1997; Freedom of Speech which was released in 2008; and Undeniable came out in the year 2018.

He has also been in movies such as Going to America and Beethoven's Big Break.
