The Little Mermaid Jr. is based on the fairytale of The Little Mermaid. Ariel lives underwater with her sisters, father, and grandmother. She is blessed with great beauty and a stunning voice.

One day, she stumbles on a party happening on a ship, wherein she lays eyes on a young man and falls in love with him. As his ship runs into an obstacle, she saves him, kisses him, and goes away before anyone can see her. When the prince wakes up, he sees many women surrounding him but doesn't know which one saved him.

Time goes by, but the prince and Ariel can't forget each other. Tormented and upset, Ariel turns to a witch who can help, but the witch is cruel. She tells Ariel that she will be able to live on earth, but she'd be losing her voice and would have to convince the prince that it was she who saved him.

Ariel agrees to the conditions and becomes an inhabitant of Mother Earth. The prince, however, can't recognize her even though he takes her in. He, too, is tormented by the memories of the girl who saved her and wished to marry only her. One day, a princess walks in who looks much like the woman who had saved the prince, which is why the prince decides to marry her.
