The Plot
Buddy Holly and the Crickets started carving out their musical career with the help of the support they received from Hipockets Duncan, a DJ from local radio. After a tough start at the Decca in Nashville, they signed a contract with the upcoming, innovative Norman Petty, a record producer.
It was just hours before Buddy Holly and the Crickets started churning out a great number of hits from this recording studio built in the backyard of Norman, and among these, "That will be the day" made its way as the chart toppers reaching number one spot in just two weeks.
Buddy had proposed to Maria Elena Santiago, a receptionist in Puerto Rico of his record publisher, since the courtship of every five hours while they recorded in New York. The newly married and ambitious shifted his focus to New York while rifts developed between him and the Crickets.
After the declaration of truths at home at a recording session, the band split, and unexpectedly Buddy found himself pursuing a career as a solo.
Buddy soon joins the Winter Dance Party. It was a bus tour through the Midwest, quenching the teen thirst for the latest music known as Rock n Roll.
The tour involves a tough job with appalling weather conditions, while these performers alternate between dropping into the hospitals to get treated for frostbite or sleeping in the luggage.
Feb 3rd, 1959, brings us to the end of the story after a rocking concern in Iowa in the Surf Ballroom. Buddy makes the fateful decision of his life to break the promise of his pregnant wife of not flying while he and two other boards of headlines are left in a small plane to their next show. They met with a snowstorm in the night, leading to a plane crash with no survivors.
