Jimmy Carr
Jimmy Carr was born in London. He is a writer, comedian, and actor. He hosted many comedy and game shows, including 8 Out of 10 Cats, A Comedy Roast, Comedy Central, and many others. Although he was born in England, he spent the majority of his formative years in Buckinghamshire.
Early Life
Born on September 15, 1972, in Hounslow, James Anthony Patrick Carr is of Irish and British ancestry. His father was the treasury and chief accountant of the computer firm Unisys. While Jimmy's Irish parents wed in the '70s and divorced in the '90s, they never legally ended their marriage. In 2001, Jimmy's mother died of pancreatitis at the age of 57. After her death, Jimmy's relationship with his father became very tense, and they hadn't talked since 2000.
He went to Burnham Grammar School, Farnham Common School, and Royal Grammar School. Jimmy finished school at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, where he got a degree in political science. Jimmy's parents kept in touch with their Irish relatives and often visited Limerick and Kilkee to see them.
Career
Carr was in charge of two game shows on Channel 4 called "Career Distraction" and "Your Face or Mine?"
From 2004 to 2006, Carr hosted an episode of Distraction American for Comedy Central. He was also nominated for the Rose d'Or Best Game Show Host in 2006. Carr's The Big Fat Quiz of the Year airs on Channel 4 every December. He has also hosted special episodes of The Big Fat Quiz of Everything.
In April 2010, Carr hosted A Comedy Roast on Channel 4, the first comedy roast show to air in Britain. On May 6, 2010, he was one of the hosts of Channel 4's Alternative Election Night with Lauren Laverne, David Mitchell, and Charlie Brooker. He got back together with the three hosts of Channel 4's 10 O'Clock Live, a funny news show that started in January 2011. Carr was a guest host twice in 2014 and 2015 on Sunday Night's ITV show at the Palladium. In 2018, he was in charge of the Netflix comedy show The Fix. From 2018 to 2020, Carr hosted the Comedy Central show Roast Battle.
