Laugh Factory
In the United States, Laugh Factory is a chain of comedy clubs. Laugh Factory Inc. owns the chain, and Jamie Masada started the company and is now its CEO. It records the comedian who can perform in a single set at the club for the longest time.
History
Masada moved to the U.S. by himself when he was a teenager. He wanted to become a comedian. He started the Laugh Factory at age 16 with the help of a loan from a friend. The first name for it was Joke on Yolk. USA Today has called the Laugh Factory the "#1 comedy club in the country" since it opened in 1979.
As time passed, the Laugh Factory moved into other cities, like Las Vegas and Scottsdale, Arizona, and became home to many big names on the comedy circuit.
Dane Cook and Dave Chappelle are regulars at the main venue, and each is known for hours-long sets. Cook has the record right now. In January 2008, he performed for seven hours and 34 minutes.
Millions worldwide have laughed at the Laugh Factory, its main location on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood. People from all over the world come to this Los Angeles institution to have a good time and see some of the biggest stars in comedy perform. From its comedy magazine to its historical stage, Laugh Factory has helped many comedians get ahead in their careers, and it continues to do so.
Acts of kindness
On December 8, 2010, the Laugh Factory hosted the "Longest Continuous Stand-Up Comedy Event (Multiple Comedians)," setting a new Guinness World Record. Comic Strip Live set the old record of 50 hours. Hence, they used to hold the record. The Laugh Factory went past 50 hours on Wednesday and continued nonstop until 10:38 p.m. on December 9, when they stopped and set a new record of 80 hours. Dom Irrera was on stage when the record was broken, and Deon Cole was there when the new record was set. Toys were collected for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals as part of the "Toy to the Globe" program. There were almost 130 comedians, and the entire event was broadcast live online. Comedians at Nashville, Tennessee's The East Room on April 15, 2015, smashed the previous record set by the Laugh Factory.
The club has hosted benefit shows for the Middle Eastern Comedy Festival, the Red Cross, Stand Up for India, the USO, Police for Causes, and Comedians Without Borders.
