Matteo Lane

Matteo Lane is an American comedian of Mexican and Italian descent. Lane is multilingual, and he had the opportunity to meet people from various backgrounds. His experiences and interactions with them often become the content of his shows.

Lane was attracted to the fine arts since he was a kid and studied drawing and painting, and he also trained as an opera singer for a while.

Lane started his career as a singer in local bars before turning to comedy. He began comedy with open mics in Chicago and later became a storyboard artist in New York; however, to be disillusioned by it sooner. He turned his attention to comedy again and did not look back.

Rise as a Comedian and Other Achievements

Lane started gaining prominence after participating in Just for Laughs and was a part of the "New Faces" segment. He also appeared in MTV's Guy Code and later in “Joking Off” and "Ladylike" from the same channel.

He also serves in New York Comedy Club and The Stand. Lane also dabbles in television and streaming platforms, and he created and acted in the series Janice and Jeffrey for IFC.

Lane also hosts a podcast themed around the queer community, Inside the Closet, along with co-host Emma Willmann. Netflix also features him on “The Comedy Lineup” and the podcast Nancy.

Being a homosexual, Lane has always stood by the LGBTQ community and has often faced hostilities because of it. However, he uses his shows to spread awareness and thinks it is exciting that gay comedians are finally getting the attention they deserve.
