Nick Swardson
Nick Swardson is one of those names in the world of comedy whose presence has been felt strongly ever since he made his debut in this universe. He is a stand-up comedian, actor, producer, and screenwriter.
He was born on 9th October 1976 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He is the youngest of the three kids in his family. His father was an editor and journalist, and his parents got a divorce in 1989.
Swardson went to St. Paul Central High School, where he came to know about acting and improv at the tender age of 16. He graduated in 1996 and decided to pursue comedy as a full-time career instead of going to college.
Although he loved sketch comedy, he knew that stand-up comedy was what would take him where he needed to be in life.
Career and Accomplishments
Swardson’s career started when he was doing stand-up comedy as an 18-year-old. He would attend open mic nights at Acme Comedy Co., a comedy club in Minneapolis.
During an interview he did for a newspaper in 2007, the comedian stated that he went for his first open mic without thinking too much about it, and it was the owner of the club who encouraged him to perform again and again.
He then ended up winning the comedy club's award for the "Funniest Person in the Twin Cities." Swardson then started performing on a regular basis at a comedy club within the Mall of America known as Knuckleheads.
He also performed occasionally at the weekly cabaret, Balls Cabaret.
At the age of 20, he performed his stand-up comedy at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival, attended by some of the big names in the field of comedy and entertainment that aimed to provide exposure to the ones hoping to make a mark in the same field.
After his performance was noted and appreciated at this event, he moved to New York City, where he performed at places such as the Luna Lounge. His performances were also featured at several nightclubs in Los Angeles.
Along with comedy, he also began to appear in TV shows and movies. Some of the movies he acted in are Almost Famous, Pretty When You Cry, Malibu's Most Wanted, Jack and Jill, Just Go with It, Hotel Transylvania 2, Grown Ups 2, and Airplane Mode.
The shows he appeared in include Cheap Seats, Human Giant, The Goldbergs, and The High Fructose Adventures of Annoying Orange.
