Off The Wall Comedy
Off the Wall Comedy Empire, also known as Off the Wall Comedy Basement, is a comedy club started and developed by the comedians Jeremy Man Saltan and David Klmnick. They initiated the club in November 2004 in Jerusalem.
The precise location of the Off the Wall Comedy Club is the basement at 34 Ben Yehuda Street, at the corner of King George Street. One can find it in downtown Jerusalem, underneath the Hamashbir department store, at the Little House in Baka, which was earlier known as the Olala Café.
More About Off The Wall Comedy
Several comedians have performed at this club. Some of those comedians include Austen Tayshus, Alex Edelman, Ari Louis, Benji Lovitt, and Baruch Benjamin Spier.
Austen Tayshus is the stage name of the comedian Alexander Jacob Gutman. It was in 1981 when his career in comedy started, and two years later he gained fame after signing with Regular Records.
His comedy single, "Australiana," was on the number one spot for 13 weeks. Tayshus’ debut album was titled When the Ticklers Stopped Quivering, and he decided to shift to Los Angeles to have a career in Hollywood.
He was part of a TV series titled Aussie Jokers, which was directed and produced by Paul Fenech.
Alex Edelman is a stand-up comedian who was given the title of Best Newcomer at the 2014 Edinburgh Festival Fringe. He started doing stand-up shows at the age of 15. He actually helped in setting up the Off the Wall Comedy Club during his time in Jerusalem.
Edelman performed his show titled Everything Handed to You at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2015, which ended up being the second-best reviewed show that year at the said festival.
He has made appearances on shows like Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled, Roast Battle, The John Bishop Show, and Live from the BBC. Edelman has also developed Alex Edelman's Peer Group, which is a BBC Radio 4 comedy series.
Benji Lovitt is a stand-up comedian who is hugely recognized both in the American as well as Israeli media. Along with producing comedic content, he also blogs regularly for the Times of Israel.
